You can tell a lot about a person just by the way that they sneeze.

  • There are those that hold back the sneeze… maybe the more timid, shy type?

  • There are those that we all know truly exaggerate with the intensity of the sneeze. Are these the insecure and overconfident type?

  • (These are the best) – Then, there are the ones that don’t quite fit the person that just sneezed? The big burly guy with the dainty sneeze… or the petit lady standing behind you in Starbucks that must have been a Viking in her past life?

Ok, why in the heck is Confluence Investments talking about sneezing??? Especially when not everyone has been vaccinated?

Well, there is always a dilemma at this time of year. To open the windows or not to open the windows?

This dilemma arises anytime it reaches a balmy 60 degrees or higher in April. We ask, what’s worse:

  • The air quality inside the house that has been stagnant since that one sunny day that we had in November?

  • Or, the pollen levels outside that are bound to set off someone’s allergies?

ANSWER: Many of us probably remember our parents telling us to open the windows because “It’s getting ‘Stuffy’ in here” (in a very Yinzer-ish accent).

Turns out that our folks may have been correct – GET SOME FRESH AIR RUNNING – OPEN THOSE WINDOWS! The technical term that the EPA uses for opening windows is “Natural Ventilation

Whatever you want to call it…. Our folks and the EPA agree that opening windows ‘is a must‘ at this time of year.

PS – Don’t forget to take your Allergy meds before you open the windows. Also, close your windows if it rains (We don’t want be responsible for your sneezes or any puddles in your house) : )
